Frank Zappa wasn’t just a writer, composer, singer, guitarist, producer, editor, father, husband and businessman, he was also an actor. Zappa has eight acting credits to his name including appearances on The Monkees, in The Monkees’ Head film, on The Ren & Stimpy Show and perhaps most famously in a 1986 episode of the popular TV show Miami Vice.

Considering how famously anti-drug Frank Zappa was we love that he plays the role of a notorious drug dealer in the episode. Frank stars as Mario Fuente, a big league dealer of “weasel dust” who accuses Crockett of stealing “three million of (his) favorite dollars.” Watch Zappa’s appearance on the show:

Frank Zappa was one of many musical guest stars to appear on Miami Vice during the show’s five-year run. Check out Rolling Stone’s list of the 16 best of ’em including El DeBarge, Little Richard, The Fat Boys, Willie Nelson and Miles Davis.
