The Flaming Lips shared video of their New Year’s Eve countdown and ensuing performance of “The Process.” The Lips welcomed 2026 at The Anthem in Washington D.C.
For the most part, “The Process” is a live rarity although a live version was released in the UK along with The Flaming Lips 1993 single “She Don’t Use Jelly.” “The Process” was in steady rotation in the early-nineties but dropped off setlists until the late aughts.
The song made a resurgence from 2008 – 2009. The band rang in New Year’s Eve 2009-10 with the tune after which it fell into obscurity again. The Flaming Lips’ — Wayne Coyne, Derek Brown, Matt Kirksey, Tommy McKenzie and A.J. Slaughter — performance of “The Process” on NYE 2025 was the first play since 2012 according to SetlistFM stats.
