The Flaming Lips Announce March 2021 ‘Space Bubble’ Concerts

By Scott Bernstein Feb 1, 2021 8:27 am PST

After the success of The Flaming Lips‘ first ever, full-length “Space Bubble” concerts the weekend before last, the band is getting ready to replicate the feat. The Flaming Lips will present socially distanced performances in which both the band and audience members will be encased in plastic bubbles on Friday, March 12 and Saturday, March 13 at The Criterion in Oklahoma City.

The Criterion also hosted the January shows. Attendance will be limited and all local health and safety guidelines will be strictly enforced at the March 2021 concerts.

Wayne Coyne and company used similiar setlists for both shows last month. The Flaming Lips mixed classics with material from 2020’s American Head and honored the late Daniel Johnston by covering his “True Love Will Find You In The End.” Each bubble can hold up to three concertgoers and comes complete with a supplemental speaker, water bottle, fan, towel and sign to alert staff of your intention to use the facilities.

Tickets for both concerts go on sale this Wednesday, February 3 at 10 a.m. CT via eTix (March 12, March 13). Last month’s shows sold out in minutes.
