The Flaming Lips Cover David Bowie In New Video

The Flaming Lips recently appeared at a pair of David Bowie tribute concerts in New York City where frontman Wayne Coyne performed “Life On Mars?” atop Chewbacca. Today, the group has shared an official video of their cover of another David Bowie song.

The video below features an official recording of The Lips covering Bowie’s “Space Oddity.” The band also taped a rendition of “Space Oddity” while in NYC for the tribute shows for an upcoming episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert set to be shown Tuesday, April 19. Tomorrow, The Flaming Lips have two new releases coming out for Record Store Day. The band is issuing Lightning Strikes The Postman, an alternate mix of their Clouds Taste Metallic LP featuring former guitarist Ronald Jones that comes with a comic book written by Coyne. They are also releasing the Heady Nuggs Volume II: The Second 5 Warner Bros. Records 2006-2012 collection featuring five of the band’s albums packaged as a limited edition box set.
