Watch Highlights From Second All-Star David Bowie Tribute Concert
Last night, Radio City Music Hall in New York City hosted the second of two all-star tributes to the late David Bowie put together by impresario Michael Dorf. Artists including Mumford & Sons, Blondie, Pixies, Michael Stipe, Perry Farrell, Cat Power, Ann Wilson, The Flaming Lips J Mascis and Sean Lennon presented another concert focused on the Thin White Duke’s widely influential career.
As expected, The Roots backed out and did not perform at Thursday or Friday night’s events. Bowie producer Tony Visconti’s band Holy Holy again served as the house band, backing several performances. Heart’s Ann Wilson opened the night with “Space Oddity” which was later reprised as the final song of the show featuring Choir! Choir! Choir! along with the rest of the performers on hand.
While Friday’s show often mirrored Thursday’s concert at Carnegie Hall, some notable differences last night included Jakob Dylan performing “Sorrow,” Esperanza Spalding offering “If You Can See Me,” Blondie’s “Heroes” and Mumford & Sons’ “It Ain’t Easy.” The night ended with The Flaming Lips’ take on “Life On Mars?” once again featuring an appearance on stage by Chewbacca.
