Festival Express Coming To Blu-Ray And DVD

On February 11 Shout! Factory will release the famed Festival Express concert film for the first time on Blu-ray. That same day they will also release the film on a 2-disc DVD set. If you’re unfamiliar, Festival Express documents the historic cross-Canada tour embarked upon in 1970 by The Band, Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Buddy Guy Blues Band, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Delaney & Bonnie & Friends, Ian & Sylvia and the Great Speckled Bird, Mashmakhan and Sha Na Na. The acts traveled between stops by train.

Bonus features included in the release are Derailed – The making of Festival Express, additional & extended interviews, the theatrical trailer and more. We were hoping the new DVD release would include previously unreleased footage, but from the tracklist it appears to be a re-issue of the 2004 release.
