A new posthumous box set from Tom Petty entitled An American Treasure is due through Reprise Records on September 28. The compilation includes 60 tracks from the late rocker’s vault. A video for a previously unreleased alternate version of The Last DJ track “You & Me” has been shared and features photos and footage submitted by fans.
Tom Petty’s team put out a call for fans to submit personal photos and footage of their favorite and cherished moments of Petty and his longtime band The Heartbreakers. Some of the photos and videos received were paired with footage of The Heartbreakers’ performing “You & Me” at Tom’s clubhouse recording and rehearsal space earlier this month. The audio in the video was recorded by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers at the clubhouse back in 2007.
Am American Treasure includes a bevy of previously unreleased recordings that span alternate versions of classic songs, rarities, live performances and deep cuts. The box set, which is the first release of Tom Petty music since his passing on October 2, was produced by Tom’s wife Dana Petty and daughter Adria Petty with Heartbreakers Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench as well as long-time Petty studio collaborator Ryan Ulyate.
