The Family Peach Makes Debut In Buena Vista

By Scott Bernstein May 24, 2019 12:24 pm PDT

The Family Peach played their first concert together on Wednesday night at the Ivy Ballroom in Buena Vista, Colorado. Vaylor Trucks and Melody Trucks, the children of The Allman Brothers Band co-founding drummer Butch Trucks, are joined in the new band by Jeff Franca, Todd Smallie, James Dumm, Bill McKay and Eric Sanders.

Wednesday’s show was filled with classics from The Allman Brothers Band’s repertoire. The first of two sets began the way many ABB concerts started, with the pairing of “Don’t Want You No More” and “It’s Not My Cross To Bear.” Other gems loaded into the frame included “Black Hearted Woman,” “Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More,” “Midnight Rider” and “High Falls.”

The Family Peach focused on jam vehicles in Wednesday’s second set. “Les Brers In A Minor” opened and was followed by “Dreams” and “Jessica.” Next up was “Come & Go Blues” before the band ended the night with the dream sequence of “In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed,” “Blue Sky” and “Whipping Post.”

It’s now off to Fort Collins for a performance at the Aggie Theater tonight. The Family Peach then plays Denver on Saturday and ends their debut run at the Belly Up in Aspen on Sunday. Head here to read the story of the band’s formation as penned by Vaylor Trucks.
