The 2018 Blue Ox Music Festival was held at Whispering Pines Campground in Eau Claire, Wisconsin June 14 – 16. Jamgrass.TV filmed the action and provided a live webcast of select sets. This week’s Full Show Friday features pro-shot footage of Steep Canyon Rangers‘ set at Blue Ox ’18 provided by Jamgrass.TV.
Steep Canyon Rangers played a 10-song set at Blue Ox on Saturday, June 16. The North Carolina-based Americana act’s performance took place on the event’s main stage. After opening with “Stand & Deliver” from 2013’s Tell The Ones I Love, the sextet went with the title track from the same record. The career-spanning set continued with “Blow Me Away” off 2015’s Radio.
Earlier this year, Steep Canyon Rangers released their critically-acclaimed tenth studio album Out In The Open. The band performed a handful of songs from the LP at Blue Ox including “Can’t Get Home,” “Let Me Out Of This Town” and “The Speed We’re Traveling.” Steep Canyon Rangers also fit in a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Let Me Die In My Footsteps” shortly before guitarist Woody Platt, banjo player Graham Sharp, fiddler Nicky Sanders, mandolinist Mike Guggino, bassist Barrett Smith and multi-instrumentalist Mike Ashworth ended their set with the Steve Martin co-write “Auden’s Train.”
