After weeks of teasing and announcements of shows far ahead in the future, bassist Reed Mathis has finally announced the debut performance of his Electric Beethoven ensemble in addition to a cool event he’ll take part in at San Francisco’s Outside Lands on Saturday, August 6.

Electric Beethoven will perform at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, California on Tuesday, August 2. While billed as a “sneak preview,” attendees will be treated to a full show of CDM (“classical dance music”) interpretations of Beethoven’s finest works. Tickets go on sale at 12 p.m. PT today via Terrapin’s online store as well as at the venue’s box office. An announcement warns this will be the group’s “only chance to perform in the Bay Area for a while.” Mathis will be joined by drummers Jay Lane (Primus, RatDog) and Cochrane McMillan (Tea Leaf Green) as well as keyboardist Todd Stoops (RAQ) and guitarist Clay Welch at Terrapin.

Also of note, Outside Lands will host “Electric Beethoven Acid Test Featuring Reed Mathis & Electric Beethoven With Hampton Creek Innovator Ben Roche” on Saturday, August 6 at 4:10 p.m. in Golden Gate Park. The inventive event is described as such, “Food technologist Ben Roche paired with Electric Beethoven Band will take you on the ultimate musical-culinary trip. Psychedelic versions of Beethoven’s masterworks will play throughout the forest, while Roche provides a twist for your taste buds.”

Keep your eyes on EB’s Twitter and Instagram this Monday, August 1 for a chance to win “a pretty awesome prize that (Team EB) will be giving out to a lucky few.”
