The Who played a concert at London’s Wembley Stadium on Saturday that saw them welcome Eddie Vedder for a take on “The Punk & The Godfather.” The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame act also used the opportunity to debut “Hero Ground Zero” from their forthcoming new studio album. Vedder was one of three warmup acts last night at the massive 82,000-capacity venue, which also included sets from Kaiser Chiefs and Imelda May.

The Pearl Jam frontman delivered a 12-song set ahead of The Who taking the stage and working through takes on “Wishlist,” “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town,” “Courdory,” and “Better Man.” Additionally, Vedder welcomed a pair of guests first teaming with The Who’s longtime touring guitarist Simon Townshend on “I’m The Answer” from his 1983 solo debut album Sweet Sound. Glen Hansard then joined Vedder for a trio of songs that included a take on Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” which the singer-songwriter had debuted a few days earlier in Dublin.

The Who were backed by an orchestra throughout the career-spanning turn. The first portion of the evening focussed on material from their 1969 double-album Tommy. After a take on “Imagine A Man,” from The Who by Numbers, Roger Daltrey & Co. delivered the live debut of “Hero Ground Zero.” The tune is expected to be included on the band’s first album of new material since 2006’s Endless Wire. Vedder emerged during the back half of the show that leaned in on cuts from Quadrophenia. After takes on “The Real Me” and “I’m The One,” the Pearl Jam singer teamed with Daltrey on “The Punk & The Godfather.”
