Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder previewed his forthcoming Amazon Music Special with a trailer for his conversation with Bruce Springsteen. The full special premieres today at 2 p.m. ET and will be available exclusively through Amazon for 48 hours after which point Vedder will release the discussion on his YouTube account.
The special, directed by longtime Springsteen collaborator Thom Zimny and filmed on Bruce’s New Jersey farm, sees Bruce and Eddie discussing Vedder’s new solo album, Earthling, which arrived today. The trailer clip begins with The Boss asking Vedder about his influences.
“As much melody as you have,” Bruce said, “I still hear the punk and even a certain sort of metal influence on some of the songs. Who influenced you in that part of your music?” Vedder lists The Beatles, The Who, The Band as well as Bruce himself but also mentions Split Enz, Talking Heads, Fugazi, Sonic Youth and more. Additionally, the full special sees the musicians talking about the illustrious guests Vedder has on Earthling including Stevie Wonder, Ringo Starr, Elton John and producer Andrew Watt.
