New Orleans-based prog- funk act Earphunk will release a new album entitled Right Where I Belong on October 7. The five-piece has also confirmed a Fall Tour in support of their fourth studio LP.

Guitarists Paul Provosty and Mark Hempe, bassist Michael Comeaux, drummer Michael Matthews and keyboardist Christian Gallé recorded Right Where I Belong in Chicago with acclaimed engineer Steve Albini at his Electrical Audio recording space. The six-song album was mastered by engineer Vlado Meller and follows up their 2014 studio LP Sweet Nasty.

“The energy and sound of this album is the most authentic we have been able to achieve thus far in a studio endeavor,” Hempe said. “Working with Albini was exactly what our band needed. Albini is concerned about recording just how it sounds so the listener almost feels like they are in the room with the band.”

Right Where I Belong really represents a huge chapter in the Earphunk book,” added Provosty.

The first single from the new album, “Moolah,” premiered via Live For Live Music and can be streamed below:

Earphunk will set out on the extensive Right Where I Belong Album Release Tour on August 26 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The quintet will keep a busy tour schedule throughout September, October and the first half of November with shows planned in the South, on the East Coast, in the Midwest and on the West Coast as well. They have a hometown NOLA show planned on September 30 and will be in Oxford, Mississippi the day the new album is released. Outland Ballroom in Springfield, Missouri is currently the final date on Earphunk’s tour schedule but more shows are expected to be added soon.
