Earlier this month we lost innovative jazz and soul keyboardist George Duke and ever since tributes have been pouring in from every corner of the music world. The latest comes from Dweezil Zappa, whose father Frank recruited Duke into his band for a lengthy tenure.

Duke sat in with Dweezil’s Zappa Plays Zappa outfit in 2010 to sing and play on the 1974 classic “Uncle Remus.” Dweezil shared video of the performance with the following note:

This video presentation was culled from our 2010 Los Angeles concert that featured a soulful guest performance from George Duke. I wanted to share a portion of that evening with everyone (prior to it’s official release) and respectfully pay tribute to George and offer a resounding thank you to him for all of his musical contributions in this world.

George puts so much emotion into every note he plays and sings in this exceptional version of “Uncle Remus.” Take a look…
