Dweezil Zappa Guests At School Of Rock Tribute To Frank Zappa

Last night the Downington location of School Of Rock hosted a tribute to the music of Frank Zappa. The students and instructors were joined by surprise guest Dweezil Zappa, who spent time with the kids and then took to the stage to perform with them.

Downington School Of Rock instructor and Brothers Past member Thomas McKee wrote about the very special night on his Facebook page:

I’ve seen some incredible things at School of Rock in the ten years I’ve been a part of this wonderful organization, but last night may have topped them all.

Dweezil Zappa visited our school to catch some of our Zappa tribute. He was gracious enough to spend some time with the kids before the show, and even took the stage to perform Apostrophe and Muffin Man. He took photos with anyone who asked, signed autographs, and spoke to the kids from his heart. It was one of the most genuinely amazing things I’ve ever experienced.

The show was incredible, but the atmosphere was something I will never forget. The energy was through the roof, both onstage and off. It was truly a special night and there are no words to adequately express how I feel right now. I am proud of all the kids, all of the teaching staff and members of our team here, and blown away by the sincerity and passion of Dweezil. Big props go to Brian Davis for directing the show, raising the bar once again at our school, and inspiring with his passion, heart and dedication.
