Dweezil Zappa Extends Cease & Desist Tour

Guitarist Dweezil Zappa has confirmed several new dates on his current Cease & Desist Tour. The additional Dweezil Zappa Plays Whatever The F@%K He Wants! concerts include many new stops across North America this fall.

Backed by a group of musicians commonly known as Zappa Plays Zappa (and later Dweezil Zappa Plays Frank Zappa), the new batch of shows includes a stop on September 29 in San Juan Capistrano, California ahead of performances in Arizona, Nevada, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming and a pair of Colorado shows with nights in Fort Collins and Denver on October 8 and 9, The tour heads to the Midwest with Milwaukee’s Turner Hall hosting on October 11, followed by gigs in Chicago, St. Louis and Indianapolis. A trip to Kentucky, followed by a run up to Michigan and two shows in Canada are also now confirmed.

The rest of October includes shows throughout New England, including October 30 at the Beacon Theatre in NYC and Halloween at Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia. In November Dweezil will bring his ensemble south to Georgia as well as three nights in Texas and a November 12 appearance at Tipitina’s in New Orleans.

Zappa recently posted a trailer for the Cease & Desist Tour featuring rehearsal footage. He revealed vocalist Mikki Hommel was added as a member of the group whose name has been the subject of controversy between Dweezil and the Zappa Family Trust. Snippets of “Doreen,” “You’re Probably Wondering Why I’m Here,” “Harry You’re A Beast,” “What Will This Evening Bring Me This Morning,” “You Didn’t Try To Call Me,” “Holiday In Berlin,” “five-five-FIVE” and “The Illinois Enema Bandit” are among the songs in the trailer, watch:
