Dogs In A Pile put the finishing touches on a four-night holiday run at Ardmore Music Hall near Philadelphia on Sunday. The finale saw the band welcoming renowned guitarist Steve Kimock for a Grateful Dead cover and more.

The show got underway with a set from Murray’s Law, the acoustic side-project of DIAP guitarists Brian Murray and Jimmy Law. Kimock made his first appearance with the duo. Check out a clip of the Grateful Dead’s “Scarlet Begonias” below:

Dogs In A Pile launched the main event at Ardmore with “Westward,” followed by “Didn’t You Know?” The band — Law, Murray, keyboardist Jeremy Kaplan, bassist Sam Lucid and drummer Joey Babick — then welcomed Kimock for a five-song sequence to close the first set.

The sit-in commenced with a substantial “Today” followed by the Murray-Lucid co-write “Stranger,” which the musicians took deep at just shy of 20 minutes. The collab then returned to the Grateful Dead catalog with “Crazy Fingers.” DIAP last played the reggae-tinged Blues For Allah favorite on March 15, 2023 for a 368 show gap as per go-set.net. The first set and Kimock sit-in came to a close with well-jammed renditions of Dogs originals “Spun” and “Bugle on the Shelf.”

DIAP’s second set began with “Earthbound Man.” Round two also saw Dogs fitting a cover of Martha Reeves and the Vandellas “Dancing In The Streets” (also a staple cover for the Grateful Dead) within original “Go Set,” which appears on Dogs In A Pile’s new album Distroid. The second set came to a close with “Tookin’ Around” ahead of a “Bubble” > “EDM Song” > “Bubble” encore.
