Dogs In A Pile released their third studio album, Distroid, available via streaming platforms and on vinyl. The 10-track LP contains songs that have already become live staples for the New Jersey-based band.
“It’s like the live show plus extra bits that we can’t replicate onstage because we don’t have five arms,” keyboardist and producer Jeremy Kaplan said of Distroid.
Kaplan and his bandmates — guitarists Brian Murray and Jimmy Law, drummer Joe Babick and bassist Sam Lucid — captured the basic tracks on Distroid at Galaxy Smith West and cut overdubs at Dogs HQ. Sam Torres mastered the record at Polymouth Mastering.
Press materials further detailed the new LP:
Distroid offers a cross-section of the Dogs In A Pile essence, tight and tuneful four-minute funk and jazz informed psych-rock songs, and then sprawling longform compositions with elegant harmony, agile genre-jumping, and dazzling musicianship.
Distroid kicks off with live staple “Go Set” and also includes additional favorites such as “Thomas Duncan, Pt. 3,” and “Por Que Pedro.” The track “My Disguise” features The Ocean Avenue Stompers Horns. On the cut “Samba For Sam” Kaplan added, “That’s the greatest glue job ever. I think we wrote pieces of this song all over the country and then sat on it for three years!”
