The Disco Biscuits Host New Year’s Eve ‘Boston Techno Party’

The Disco Biscuits staged their “Boston Techno Party” New Year’s Eve concert at Roadrunner. The foursome treated fans to cover debuts of songs by Robin S., Charlotte de Witte, Alice Deejay and Jeff Mills across the three-set performance.

The party got going with a 24-minute introductory “Mindless Dribble.” The opening set also included the band’s first inverted attempt at the recently premiered original, “Dream Journal.”

Set two began with another big jam in the form of a 19-minute “Rivers.” The fittingly selected “We Like To Party” followed and transitioned into “Shadow.” The band then offered their first performance of the 1990s house hit “Show Me Love” by Robin S. “Cyclone” came next before a brief return to “We Like To Party” completed the second set.

Bisco turned in the techno approach to “Neck Romancer” to open the third set as midnight loomed minutes away. Another new cover arrived ahead of the New Year through a segue into Charlotte de Witte’s “Hymn” from her November 2025 self-titled album. Guitarist Jon Gutwillig led his bandmates in counting down the final seconds of the year and he inserted the typical “Happy New Year” lyrics in the subsequent “Helicopters.”

Before “Helicopters,” Gutwillig, bassist Marc Brownstein, keyboardist Aron Magner and drummer Marlon B. Lewis paused to wish the audience a Happy New Year.

The Disco Biscuits kept the party pumping with their first take on Jeff Mills’ iconic techno track “The Bells.” Another 1990s dance club staple, “Better Off Alone” by Alice Deejay, was served up as the last new cover of the night, having previously been played by Tractorbeam. The quartet wrapped the night with “Ring the Doorbell Twice” into “Rock Candy,” and briefly circling back to “Helicopters.”
