The Disco Biscuits Deliver Championship Performance At Irving Plaza

By Scott Bernstein Aug 20, 2016 1:08 pm PDT

On Friday night, jamtronica pioneers The Disco Biscuits continued City Bisco 2016 in the event’s new host town of New York City. Friday saw the quartet perform before a capacity crowd at the cozy confines of Irving Plaza ahead of tonight’s main event in Coney Island. The run’s second show featured plenty of jamming, a debut and a few bust outs.

The Disco Biscuits wasted no time getting to the jams by opening with the 2016 debut of “Grass Is Green.” Eventually, the foursome connected the “Grass Is Green” jam with “Spacebirdmatingcall,” completing the version they started the previous night. Rarity “The Bridge” was up next ahead of an uncompleted “And The Ladies Were The Rest Of The Night” which wound its way into the end of “Grass Is Green.” Guitarist Jon “The Barber” Gutwillig’s “Kitchen Mitts” brought the first set to a close.

Friday’s second set had a particularly old school start with “7-11” > “Munchkin Invasion.” Up next was “Orch Theme” from bassist Marc “Brownie” Brownstein and keyboardist Aron Magner’s Conspirator days. From there, the Disco Biscuits unveiled their first new original in nearly six years, a song titled “The Champions.” The quartet worked their newest tune into “Munchkin Invasion” and ended the second set with former drummer Sammy Altman’s “Floes.” For the encore, tDB said farewell with the 2016 debut of “The City.”

Tonight, tDB make their debut at Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk in Brooklyn, New York. A free, live webcast will be posted on the band’s YouTube page.
