The 7th annual AURA Music & Arts Festival concluded on Saturday at the Spirit Of The Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida. Jamtronica act The Disco Biscuits headlined the action at AURA on Saturday with a pair of cover and guest-filled sets.
The Disco Biscuits emerged for the first set with special guest Tom Hamilton on guitar and vocals for a tribute to the Grateful Dead in the form of “Scarlet Begonias” and “I Know You Rider.” A huge “Spacebirdmatingcall” sequence served as the finale of the opening stanza complete with “Pimp Blue Rikki,” the ending of “Morph Dusseldorf” and a cover of “Funky Town” in between. The quartet was joined by the Trey Anastasio Band’s Jennifer Hartswick and Natalie Cressman for their first cover of “Funky Town” since its debut this past Halloween.
“Morph Dusseldorf” kicked off the second set completing the dyslexic version of the classic. The Biscuits then moved on to “Mulberry’s Dream” before “Caterpillar” led into a cover of “A Fifth Of Beethoven.” From there, the Philadelphia band said farewell with “Home Again” and the end of “Caterpillar.” AURA provided a free webcast of the Disco Biscuits’ performance. Next up for tDB is a pair of shows at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York later this month.
