A portion of proceeds from the concert will help establish the Dickey Betts Memorial Endowed Scholarship at Berklee College of Music. The Betts Family along with Dickey’s longtime manager David Spero and the Berklee School of Music announced the creation of the scholarship, which “will provide financial assistance to students who demonstrate both exceptional musical ability and financial need.”

The new scholarship is part of the mission of the Dickey Betts Music Education Fund (DBMEF), which was started through the generosity of Donna Betts as a lasting tribute to her husband’s legacy. The DBMEF will provide awards to emerging composers and songwriters and recognition to honor the achievements of established composers and songwriters in addition to funding scholarship programs such as the one with Berklee.
