Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio released a new single, “Fried Soul,” which is available via Colemine Records to stream as well as in record stores as a 45 RPM vinyl. The song comes on the heels of the Seattle-based funk and soul group’s 2022 album, Cold As Weiss, which arrived earlier this month.

DLO3 previewed Cold As Weiss with three singles — “Pull Your Pants Up,” “Don't Worry 'Bout What I Do” (both inspired by guitarist Jimmy James) and “Get Da Steppin” — before the LP, the band’s first with drummer Dan Weiss, arrived on February 11. The group led by organist and multi-instrumentalist Delvon Lamarr wasted no time in getting another single out with “Fried Soul” (which isn’t on the album but appears to be from the same sessions) out just two weeks after Cold As Weiss.

“‘Fried Soul’ takes you back to a time of the juke joints,” Lamarr said of the new tune, “when those steamy grooves made you want to shake your shimmy.”
