DelURide | Music Lovers Will Cycle To Raise Funds For Charity

Two long-time friends and music lovers, Jeff Steckler and Charlie Wildman, will soon embark upon a cross-country charity bike ride from this weekend’s DelFest in Maryland to next month’s Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado, with funds raised benefiting the Chase Your Dreams Foundation (CYDF), a disability-oriented non-profit based in New Orleans.

Steckler & Wildman are aiming to raise $20,000 through a combination of individual donations and corporate sponsorships for the bike ride dubbed “DelURide.” Those looking to contribute are encouraged to donate via DelURide’s You Caring page. After attending Telluride together a number of times, the pair came up with the idea for the epic bike ride in 2013. While the idea for the 2,000 mile bike ride started out as a joke, the two soon realized they could turn their whimsical idea into a reality and raise funds for a worthy cause. They phoned their college friend Chase Treadway, who started CYDF in 2013 four years after he was paralyzed chest down following a severe swimming pool injury. CYDF prides itself on mentoring, providing a network of support and providing funding and opportunities for motivating experiences for the recently disabled. The charity also provides their beneficiaries with funding for prescriptions, repurposed wheelchairs and educational and enrichment courses.

Jeff and Charlie will be documenting their trip on the DelURide Facebook Page.
