Del McCoury Band shared a new single, “Honky Tonk Nights,” featuring Vince Gill. The song is set to land on the bluegrass legend’s upcoming album, Almost Proud, due out on February 18 via Del’s McCoury Music imprint.
Del McCoury Band — consisting of Del’s sons Ronnie McCoury on mandolin and Rob McCoury on banjo as well as fiddler Jason Carter and bassist Alan Bartram — announced Almost Proud in October. The album came to fruition when Del listened to over 200 songs during the pandemic pause. For instance, lead single “Running Wild” came into the picture when Ronnie unearthed a 15-year-old sketch of the tune he found and played it for his dad. Del McCoury Band also previewed the record with, “Once Again” which features frequent Del collaborator Josh Shilling.

The latest Almost Proud single, “Honky Tonk Nights,” boasts another guest spot, this time from Del’s longtime friend and collaborator Vince Gill. The country star adds his famous high-register alongside Del’s own iconic tenor. “I love singing with Vince,” Del said as per The Bluegrass Situation, who premiered the new track. “We’ve done a lot through the years but this is the first time I’ve found the perfect song to have him on my album. I am thrilled with how this song turned out and grateful to Vince for his friendship and his love and support of bluegrass.”
