Deer Tick Covers ZZ Topās āCheap Sunglassesā At Newport Folk Festival
The band honored bassist Dusty Hill who died this week at age 72.

Deer Tick honored ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill by covering āCheap Sunglassesā on Wednesday at Newport Folk Festival. The performance came on the same day ZZ Top announced the death of the legendary bandās bassist, who was 72-years-old.
Rhode Island-born Deer Tick, who are longtime Newport regulars, returned to Fort Adams State Park to close out the sixth and final day of the Newport Folk Festivalās Folk On event. The set saw Vanessa Carlton come out for a collaborative performance of āIn Our Time.ā
The band also welcomed Courtney Marie Andrews, S.G. Goodman, Katie Pruitt and Langhorne Sim for a cover of Ben Vaughnās āToo Sensitive for This World.ā Deer Tickās set ended with their traditional leading of Lead Bellyās āGoodnight, Ireneā while joined on stage by many of the other Newport Folk performers.
