Death Cab For Cutie Covers TLC’s ‘Waterfalls’ On ‘Kimmel’
Last month, Death Cab for Cutie released The Georgia E.P., a collection of five covers featuring songs by Georgia-native musicians. One of those covers was TLC’s “Waterfalls.” Death Cab For Cutie assembled remotely to perform “Waterfalls” for Tuesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The Georgia E.P. was prepped by Death Cab from home studios over a four-day period in November to celebrate President Joe Biden winning Georgia in the Presidential election and to bring attention to Senate runoff elections that took place earlier this month. Death Cab initially released the covers EP, dedicated by the band to “Stacey Abrams and all the hardworking men and women at Fair Fight,” for 24 hours in December via Bandcamp with proceeds going towards Fair Fight. The Georgia E.P. was then issued on streaming services a few weeks ago.
“Waterfalls” opens The Georgia E.P. which also features songs from Neutral Milk Hotel, R.E.M., Vic Chesnutt and Cat Power. TLC originally released “Waterfalls” on their sophomore studio album, CrazySexyCool, in 1994. “Waterfalls” spent seven weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
