Death Cab for Cutie shared their cover of “Waiting For The Sunrise” from the upcoming tribute album, Ocean Child: Songs Of Yoko Ono. DCFC frontman Ben Gibbard curated and executive produced the album, which is set for release this Friday, February 18.

“It’s very important to me that people get a chance to really understand what Yoko’s music is all about,” Gibbard stated. “My hope for the people who hear this music for the first time is that their idea of Yoko Ono is completely flipped upside down. I’m also beyond grateful to all the artists who contributed songs to this project.”

Along with Gibbard and DCFC, among the other artists contributing to the 14-track Ocean Child include David Byrne, Yo La Tengo, Sharon Van Etten, Deerhoof, The Flaming Lips, Japanese Breakfast and Amber Coffman. A podcast co-hosted by Gibbard and journalist Jenny Eliscu exploring Yoko Ono’s career and featuring interviews with several of the participating musicians is also set to premiere on February 18.

A portion of the proceeds from the sales Ocean Child will be donated to WhyHunger. Stream Death Cab For Cutie’s cover of “Waiting For The Sunrise,” which appeared on Yoko Ono’s 1973 album Approximately Infinite Universe, below:
