It appears talk show host Andy Cohen may have been on to something when he suggested Dead & Company should perform at the Sphere in Las Vegas during John Mayer‘s appearance on Watch What Happens Live in October. According to a New York Post report, the Grateful Dead offshoot are in talks to play the $2.3 billion, state-of-the-art venue.

A potential Dead & Company run at the Vegas Sphere would “kick off next summer” as per the Post’s report. The paper’s sources warned the residency is not a sealed deal as talks “are still in the works and not 100%.”

The Irish band’s residency at the Sphere concludes on March 2. U2 manager Irving Azoff is also one of Dead & Company’s managers.

Phish will be the second artist to play the Sphere when they present a four-night stand at the venue from April 18 – 21. Tickets for the run go on sale today (Friday, December 15) at 1 p.m. ET.

Dead & Company — Mayer, guitarist Bob Weir, bassist Oteil Burbridge, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti and drummers Mickey Hart and Jay Lane — brought their final tour to a close on July 16 in San Francisco. Multiple members issued statements leaving the door open for future shows. “Dead & Company is still a band – we just don’t know what the next show will be,” wrote John Mayer shortly after the end of the final tour.

Both Sphere spokespeople and a Dead & Co. rep declined comment to the New York Post. Beyoncé is also in talks to perform at the venue the Post previously reported with Sphere operator James Dolan also “considering” Bon Jovi, Paul McCartney and Lady Gaga for future residencies.
