Dawes Parts Ways With Keyboardist Tay Strathairn

After a run of five years keyboardist Tay Strathairn has parted ways with Dawes. An announcement from the band notes “after many great years, due to musical differences, Dawes and Tay Strathairn have come to the difficult decision to part ways. We as a band are deeply grateful for the contributions that Tay has made over the years and we wish him the best.”
Ironically, the surprising announcement comes a week after Dawes released a video for “All Your Favorite Bands” with its chorus “I hope all your favorite bands stay together.” Strathairn joined Dawes in 2010 shortly after the Los Angeles act was formed and contributed to each of the band’s albums. The keyboardist’s father is famed actor David Strathairn.
Dawes is currently on tour and set to play Asheville, North Carolina tonight. While the statement didn’t mention anything about a replacement for Strathairn, it appears the group is finishing the tour as a quartet with frontman Taylor Goldsmith playing keys at points of the show.
