Legendary singer-songwriter David Crosby will issue a new solo album entitled Lighthouse via GroundUP Music/Verve Label Group on October 21. A single from the LP, “The City,” has been made available in advance of the record’s release.
Produced by Snarky Puppy’s Michael League, the nine-track LP was recorded at Jackson Browne’ Groove Masters studio in Santa Monica in just 12 days. It primarily features Crosby on guitar with League accompanying the 75-year-old musician on bass. League also contributed to some of the songwriting on the album.
“The City,” Crosby told NPR Music who premiered the single, is about New York City and was developed out of League’s desire to pen a song that treated the location as a woman. “I think seeing the city as a woman is an interesting way to look at it,” Crosby said. “She’s kind of a bitch, but she’s kind of beautiful, too, and certainly energetic.”
