David Crosby, Jason Isbell & Amanda Shires Perform At Red Rocks

Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit, David Crosby & Friends and Amanda Shires teamed up for a triple bill at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Tuesday night. The concert was filled with collaborations including Crosby guesting with Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit on a CSNY classic and Jason returning the favor by performing a CSN gem with David and his band.

Shires kicked off the show with a set that included contributions from Isbell on guitar during “Wasted & Rollin’.” Amanda and her band honored the late Ric Ocasek with a cover of The Cars’ “Just What I Needed” towards the end of their performance. Crosby and company played a nine-song set that featured tunes from David’s various projects. Isbell emerged to join the group for their penultimate song of the night, “Wooden Ships.”

Isbell & The 400 Unit put a cap on the night with a 17-song performance and two-tune encore. The set included six songs from 2017’s The Nashville Sound. Crosby came out for the final number of the main set, an emotional rendition of CSNY’s 1970 protest song “Ohio” that also incorporated Amanda Shires on fiddle. Jason and his band ended the concert with an encore of “Maybe It’s Time” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well.”
