Listen To David Bowie’s Previously Unreleased John Lennon & Bob Dylan Covers

Previously unreleased recordings of David Bowie covering John Lennon and Bob Dylan songs are now available to stream. The tracks were shared today to mark what would have been Bowie’s 74th birthday.

The pair of tracks include Bowie’s version of Lennon’s “Mother” off the 1970 Plastic Ono Band album. Bowie, who died on January 10, 2016 at age 69, recorded the song in 1998 with his regular collaborator, producer Tony Visconti, for a Lennon tribute project that was shelved.

Also featured is Bowie’s cover of Dylan’s “Tryin’ To Get To Heaven” from the 1997 album, Time Out Of Mind. Bowie recorded the Dylan cover in February 1998 during sessions for his 1999 live album LiveAndWell.com.

The covers are available to stream as well as a limited edition 7-inch vinyl single. Stream Bowie’s covers of “Mother” and “Tryin’ To Get To Heaven” below:
