Dave Matthews Band tour continued at Oak Mountain Amphitheatre in Pelham, Alabama after two days off. The septet worked six tour debuts into Tuesday night’s setlist.
Oak Mountain first hosted DMB on October 15, 1994, when the group opened for Phish and joined the quartet for a collaborative version of Daniel Lanois’ “The Maker.” Last night’s concert was DMB’s ninth headlining performance at the scenic venue.
DMB went with “One Sweet World” to kick off their 19-song main set. A string of tour debuts came soon thereafter featuring “Crush,” “Again & Again” and “Seek Up.” The latter was followed by Under The Table & Dreaming standouts “What Would You Say” and “Jimi Thing.” Last night’s “Jimi Thing” led into a cover of Steve Miller Band’s “Fly Like An Eagle” as DMB had done a number of times during their recent tour of Europe. Next was the evening’s only other cover, a take on “Sledgehammer” by Peter Gabriel.

Tuesday’s main set also included the tour debut of the beloved “The Song That Jane Likes.” Dave Matthews Band last played the song at John Paul Jones Arena in their hometown of Charlottesville on December 15, 2018. Matthews began a two-song encore with a solo rendition of “Some Devil,” another tour debut, and then brought out the band for the “Stay (Wasting Time)” finale.
