By Scott Bernstein Aug 26, 2019 • 2:21 pm PDT
Dave Matthews Band dusted off the beloved original “Spoon” for the first time in nearly five years on Saturday night at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Saturday’s concert was the second of two at the Colorado venue that kicks off the final leg of DMB’s 2019 Summer Tour.
“Spoon,” which the band released on 1998’s Before These Crowded Streets came as the seventh song in DMB’s 20-song performance on Saturday night. While the full band last performed “Spoon” on August 30, 2014; Dave did play the song solo at two DMB shows in 2015. Matthews has also played “Spoon” five times since 2017 at Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds concerts. DMB’s run at Fiddler’s Green also featured the 2019 debut of “Smooth Rider” on Friday night.
