The Dave Matthews Band may be on hiatus, but the group has kept their Live Trax archival releases flowing at a steady pace. Live Trax Vol. 44, due on December 5, features DMB’s September 4, 2016 concert at The Gorge in George, Washington. Various packages are available including the series’ first Blu-Ray edition.
Ahead of the hiatus, the Dave Matthews Band ended a lengthy 2016 tour with “Labor Dave Weekend” at The Gorge, a long-standing tradition for the group. The new Live Trax features the third of three shows played at the beautiful venue last year and their final performance before starting hiatus. Dave teased fans by hinting a the long-lost “Dodo” before kicking into “The Stone.” Highlights from the night are many and include guest appearances from Joe Lawlor and Carlos Malta as well as a cover of Talking Heads’ “Burning Down The House” and tour rarities “Say Goodbye,” “So Damn Lucky” and “The Maker.”

With the spectacular river gorge as the backdrop, Dave Matthews Band took their final bow of the 2016 tour at the Gorge Amphitheatre before heading into an extended hiatus. The weekend, which has been affectionately dubbed “Labor Dave Weekend,” was full of incredible energy and solid performances that covered the breadth of the band’s catalogue. This show from September 4th kicked off with “The Stone,” complete with an audience sing-along, and ended with a two-song encore of “Pig” and “Stay (Wasting Time).” Special guests included Carlos Malta on woodwinds on “Say Goodbye,” “The Maker,” and “Typical Situation,” while touring crew member Joe Lawlor played guitar on a fiery performance of “Rhyme & Reason.”
