Dave Matthews Band launched their first European tour since 2019 on Tuesday night at AFAS Live in Amsterdam. The septet, who treated fans to a 20-song performance heavy on staples, also announced support for their annual Labor Day Weekend three-night stand at The Gorge in Washington state.
Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and Say She She open for DMB at The Gorge on August 30 with Cory Wong and Blind Pilot set to kick off the action on August 31 and Neko Case and Maggie Rose supporting at the idyllic venue on September 1. Additionally, Katie Pruitt and Michael Marcagi will support Dave Matthews Band at Alpine Valley in East Troy, Wisconsin on June 21 and 22 respectively. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster.

Dave Matthews Band began last night’s show in Amsterdam with the beloved “Grey Street.” The song from 2002’s Busted Stuff was one of many classics played at AFAS Live as “Satellite,” “The Space Between,” “Jimi Thing,” “Crash Into Me” and “Warehouse” also made the setlist.
The biggest surprise of the night came in the nine-slot when DMB performed “Proudest Monkey,” a tune that only saw action four times last year. Additionally, the band’s latest album — 2023’s Walk Around The Moon — was represented on Tuesday by its title track, “Looking For A Vein” and “Madmen’s Eyes.”
Dave Matthews Band fit a handful of covers into the mix at the tour opener. “Satellite” gave way to Billy Preston’s “Will It Go Round In Circles” and a standalone take on David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” followed a few songs later. Both covers were debuted by DMB in Las Vegas on March 1. Furthermore, “Jimi Thing” bled into the Commodores’ 1977 smash “Brickhouse” and Dave went it alone to start the encore with a solo “Rye Whiskey.” The rest of the band returned to wrap the evening with an “All Along The Watchtower” that included a partial version of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway To Heaven.”
