Dan Auerbach Appears On CBS ‘Saturday Sessions’

By Jeffrey Greenblatt Jun 3, 2017 8:14 am PDT

Dan Auerbach sat for an interview and played a pair of songs from his brand new album Waiting On A Song as part of the weekly CBS This Morning performance series Saturday Sessions. The episode featured The Black Keys guitarist speaking with the program’s Anthony Mason from Electric Lady Studios in New York City and performing with his solo band at the weekend morning show’s studio.

Auerbach and Mason chatted about the process that went into recording the guitarist’s second solo album in his adopted hometown of Nashville. Auerbach discussed the almost methodical Monday through Saturday process of writing and recording at his studio Easy Sound, as well as connecting some like-minded older musicians like legendary singer-songwriter John Prine and guitarist Duane Eddy. Auerbach also touched on the future of The Black Keys telling Mason that the duo are just taking a “nice little vacation,” and they had grown weary of life on the road.

In addition to the interview, Auerbach and his touring band performed two songs from his new record, the album’s title track and “Shine On Me.”
