Counting Crows swung by 30 Rock on Wednesday for an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Frontman Adam Duritz led the group through a performance of “Spaceman In Tulsa” after sitting for an interview with the host.
Jimmy Fallon has a long relationship with Counting Crows that dates back to his early days as a comedian. Fallon parodied the band’s “Mr. Jones” on his first comedy album and once opened for the band. Adam Duritz recalled how he invited Jimmy to warm up the crowd before Counting Crows headlined NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom in 1997.
Duritz also spoke about receiving an offer from the Prince camp to attend a party at Paisley Park, which he turned down as he wasn’t sure The Purple One would actually attend. The Counting Crows frontman was on tour and returned home to find a care package from Prince. Duritz displayed a tambourine that was included in the package.

Counting Crows ended last night with a rollicking performance of “Spaceman In Tulsa.” The song is featured on the group’s new album, Butter Miracle, The Complete Sweets!, which arrives tomorrow, May 9 on BMG.
Butter Miracle, The Complete Sweets! consists of five previously unreleased tracks along with the four tracks from the band’s 2021 EP, Butter Miracle: Suite One. Counting Crows issued “Spaceman In Tulsa” earlier this year to preview the set.
Adam Duritz had the tambourine he was gifted by Prince in hand as he sang “Spaceman In Tulsa.” Keyboardist Charlie Gillingham helped power the shimmering rock song with impressive piano runs.
