PHISH DRUMMER TO PLAY DEAD TUNES TONIGHT

In less than one month Phish drummer Jon Fishman will hit the road with the rest of the quartet for a summer tour that kicks off Phish’s 30th Anniversary celebration. The drummer will continue to get his chops together for the summer excursion at Club Metronome in Burlington, VT this evening as part of the venue’s “Dead Set” series according to Jambands.com.

Tonight’s Dead Set installment also features TAB drummer Russ Lawton and Twiddle’s Mihali Savoulidis joining house band Cats Under The Stars. Here’s a description of the concert which is free-of-charge to those over the age of 21:

Nectar’s and Club Metronome present DEAD SET. . . a Tuesday night, weekly Grateful Dead jam session at Club Metronome. In addition to the backing band, Cats Under the Stars, the night will feature a monthly resident Special Guest. The house band consists of Zach Nugent (Guitar, Vocals), Ed Grasmeyer (Bass, Vocals), Josh Dobbs (Keyboards) and Ryan Clausen (Drums) . . .and you should expect your favorite local musicians and surprises each week.

Between sets, we’ll have some of the finest Grateful Dead live material for house music and we encourage any patron to bring their favorite GD moments on cd, ipod or any other mp3 player, and we’ll get it in the rotation.

Come down and celebrate the band we all know and love in a relaxed, comfortable environment. We’ll have plenty of seating, including couches as well tons of room to shake your bones.

For those who can’t make it in person, the folks at @CouchTours have pointed us towards the Dead Set UStream Channel which they say will stream the show for free. The times listed on Club Metronome’s website have the gig starting around 9 p.m. ET and ending around 2 a.m. ET.
