Cory Wong Shares ‘Bluebird’ Single Featuring Chris Thile

By Scott Bernstein Jul 31, 2020 9:06 am PDT

Guitarist Cory Wong recruited mandolinist Chris Thile to contribute to “Bluebird,” a new single. “Bluebird” appears on Wong’s forthcoming Trail Songs: Dawn album, which is set for release next Friday, August 7.

Dawn is the second of two acoustic Trail Songs albums prepped by Wong. Cory released Dusk earlier this month. Trail Songs: Dawn is described as “a more rollicking affair” in contrast with the more mellow Dusk and the track with Thile lives up to the description.

“I started by writing tunes on the guitar, and then added layers while mocking up demos,” Wong wrote in an announcement of the two albums. “And then I sent the demos and scores out to my friends to replace the demo parts. It was really a magical thing to be able to bring some of my friends together to play music from around the world in a time where many of them felt isolated from any sense of community.”
