On July 19, Con Brio and Lyrics Born will release “Mistakes,” which will be followed by “Sundown” on September 20. The collaboration was born from the two acts sharing the stage at Ashland, Oregon’s Armory in 2017. “The whole night was a blast,” explained Con Brio drummer Andrew Laubacher. “We hung out afterwards and the vibe was great. So we all said ‘Let’s make some music.’ Eventually the stars aligned and we got the chance to work together.”
Lyrics Born was immediately game to work with Con Brio after watching the band perform. “When I saw them play for the first time I was sold,” the rapper said. “There are very few bands that can pull off a quality blend of equal parts rock, funk, and soul, and Con Brio are one of the few. I couldn’t wait to work with them because I feel like I, too, have been living and thriving in that exclusive space for so long.” The two acts recorded together at Con Brio’s West Oakland rehearsal space.
“At these shows, the entire night is gonna be sweaty, rowdy and fun,” added Laubacher of the upcoming tour. “That much I can promise.” Lyric Born is also eagerly awaiting the jaunt, “I don’t think there’s another tour going out this fall with so much lifted enthusiasm and raw energy on stage. We both get tremendous joy from seeing people have a good time, and driving people to that euphoric apex, and them pushing them beyond it is the goal night in and night out. I can’t wait!”
