Primus bassist Les Claypool and singer-songwriter Sean Ono Lennon have revived The Claypool Lennon Delirium for a new single and forthcoming album. The duo unveiled the bombastic track “WAP (What A Predicament),” which marks their first new Claypool Lennon Delirium music since the release of their 2019 sophomore studio album, South Of Reality.

“This is the intro to our upcoming epic-techno-psychedelic-rock-opera!” Lennon wrote on X about the single. “WAP” arrived with a visual illustrated by Rich Ragsdale and animated by Cage Claypool. Credits for the song list Claypool on vocals and bass with Lennon on vocals and guitar. The pair co-wrote and co-produced “WAP,” which was released today on ATO Records.

Sean Lennon appeared on CBS Sunday Morning in December and revealed that The Claypool Lennon Delirium will issue a double album in early 2026 entitled The Great Parrot Ox and the Golden Egg of Empathy.

“It’s a concept album, too,” Lennon noted. “It’s actually about the paperclip dilemma. The paperclip dilemma is something in computer science. The idea is with AI or some highly advanced computer system, if you gave it the job of making as many paper clips as possible, most efficiently as possible, it could wind up going out of control and turning the entire earth into paper clips, or melting human beings into paper clips and you couldn’t stop it because it would be too powerful. So the idea is you have to be careful how we program these devices. So it’s based on that.”

Claypool and Lennon will hit the road together this summer as part of the Claypool Gold Tour. Having last toured in 2019, The Claypool Lennon Delirium’s most recent gig was a slot aboard Jam Cruise in 2020. Claypool and Lennon were joined by drummer Pablo Baldi and keyboardist João Nogueira for past Delirium tours. Les Claypool’s Primus and Frog Brigade bands will also take part in the trek.
