This Friday instrumental quartet Circles Around The Sun will issue a new studio album entitled Let It Wander through Rhino Records. Guitarist Neal Casal, bassist Dan Horne, keyboardist Adam MacDougall and drummer Mark Levy today unveiled the video for “One For Chuck,” a single from the group’s soon-to-be-released sophomore studio album.
Both the studio version and the video for “One For Chuck” feature cameos from Public Enemy’s Chuck D. “One night in the studio while making our record, I was standing outside taking a break and I saw a black car pull up, and out stepped the great Chuck D. He was there to speak to the studio owner about something and ended up hearing our music while he was hanging out,” Casal explained in a statement when the single was released. “He told us ‘You guys are real musicians man, that can’t be replaced.’ We asked him if he’d do an intro for a song, he graciously obliged, and we decided to name the song after him.”
Circles Around The Sun tapped Steven Mertens to produce the “One For Chuck” video. “He heard the tune and came up with the idea for it. He explained it to me and I trusted him so much that I just let him run with it,” Casal told Ultimate Classic Rock. “That’s not like me … but sometimes you just need to step to the side. If you have the right people together, let them do their thing and they will take you where you need to go. That was absolutely the case with this video.”
