Circles Around The Sun took the stage for a livestream concert at Relix Studios in New York City on August 26. Relix recently shared video featuring the instrumental quartet’s full six-song set.

Initially conceived by Neal Casal, the late musician’s bandmates continued on in the wake of his tragic 2019 death as Casal requested. Bassist Dan Horne, keyboardist Adam MacDougall and drummer Mark Levy are joined in the latest CATS lineup by guitarist John Lee Shannon.

Circles Around The Sun opened with “One For Chuck” from their 2018 sophomore studio album, Let It Wander. The quartet then takes on “Pete Jive” from their self-titled 2020 LP before tackling “Saturday’s Children.” The latter was originally penned by Casal for music that aired at setbreak during 2015 Fare Thee Well concerts, the project that birthed CATS.

A lengthy “Leaving (Rogue Lemon)” came next and displays the otherworldly vintage keyboard sounds of MacDougall. Horne’s powerful bass steadied the ensuing “Halicarnassus.” Circles Around The Sun went on to end the set with “Babyman,” the first track on the four-piece’s latest LP.
