In 2015 guitarist Neal Casal was asked to compose songs to be played at intermission of the Fare Thee Well – Celebrating 50 Years Of Grateful Dead concerts in Santa Clara and Chicago. Casal named the project Circles Around the Sun and the music was so well received, Neal put out an album of the tunes he created and hit the road with a live version of the group. The quartet is far from finished as they will soon enter the studio to record new music and have announced a series of shows around the recording sessions.

Circles Around The Sun have announce six shows in January 2018, which bookends the four-piece’s return to the studio. Up first are West Coast shows as Casal, bassist Dan Horne, drummer Mark Levy and keyboardist Adam MacDougall will play The Troubadour in Los Angeles on January 5 and The Chapel in San Francisco January 11 – 12. Circles will visit the studio within the time between stops in L.A. and San Francisco. From there, the quartet heads east for a performance at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. on January 18, their return to Brooklyn Bowl for Freaks Ball on January 19 and a show at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester on January 20.
