Chris Shiflett shared the solo single “Born & Raised,” the follow-up to his recently released “Long Long Year” track. The Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer, who is a member of Foo Fighters, tapped Vance Powell to produce both studio cuts.

Shiflett discussed “Born & Raised,” which he described as “pretty twangy” and noted “leans way more dirty Steve Earle country rock kinda flavor” in comparison to “Long Long Year” during an interview featured on a recent episode of The JamBase Podcast.

Chris recorded both songs over a two-day period last year with Vance Powell in Nashville. Shiflett had never met Powell or the musicians the producer assembled prior to the sessions. The guitarist is joined on “Born & Raised” by bassist Jack Lawrence (The Raconteurs), drummer Julian Doro (Eagles of Death Metal), keyboardist Mike Webb and steel guitarist Luke Schneider.

Shiflett shared the following about the recording of “Born & Raised”:

“My trip out to Nashville in March of 2021 was my first time recording any solo material since I made Hard Lessons. I hadn’t done much traveling post-covid lockdown so I was a little nervous heading out there to work with a producer and roomful of musicians I didn’t really know. In true Nashville style we made our introductions and got right down to work, hammering out the basic tracks in a few hours. Vance was great and made me feel right at home, and the group of players he put together were on point.”

Shiflett took part in a Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert at London's Wembley Stadium last Saturday. A second concert honoring the late Foo Fighters drummer will take place at Kia Arena in Los Angeles on September 27. Additionally, Chris will perform at the inaugural BeachLife Ranch Festival later this month and has a series of solo gigs planned for December.
