Chris Robinson and Rich Robinson performed as an acoustic duo for the first time in over a decade on Wednesday. The pair appeared on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic to promote The Black Crowes2020 reunion tour.

The brothers, who took the stage together on Monday for the first time in nearly six years, kicked off the session for the Santa Monica, California-based public radio station with unplugged renditions of “Jealous Again” and “Sister Luck.” Both songs appear on The Black Crowes’ 1990 debut album, Shake Your Money Maker, which the band will perform in its entirety plus “all the hits” at each show next year.

Chris and Rich then spoke with host Anne Litt about how they feel about the reunion, whether they see themselves as mentors, their songwriting process and more. “It was always there for us to put this band together and do it because there’s money to be made and that motivates 99.9999% [of people],” Chris said in addressing how the brothers got back together. “I think Rich and I have made decisions separately and together that yes, I’m a capitalist, I’m not trying to be a marxist or anything that I’m not … but everything has come full circle.”

The Robinson brothers followed the interview segment with performances of Shake Your Money Maker tracks “Twice As Hard” and “She Talks To Angels.” Chris and Rich finished the session by taking questions left from viewers of the live stream on Facebook. The pair were asked about the potential for more Black Crowes shows beyond the tour. Rich explained that they are taking it one step at a time and want to see how the tour goes first. “You know what, if a couple of years go by and it seems legit [we’ll continue on],” Chris added. Chris went on to reveal the band only rehearsed four times before Monday’s show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City. “There has to be a certain looseness in rock and roll. If I wanted to be a perfectionist I’d be an accountant or a policeman or something,” Chris commented. He also confirmed they plan to re-issue Shake Your Money Maker in the future.
