Chick Corea Announces 75th Birthday Celebration Residency At The Blue Note


Legendary keyboardist and composer Chick Corea will celebrate his 75th birthday with an unprecedented two-month residency at the famed New York City night club The Blue Note. The 80-show residency will showcase Corea fronting 15 legendary bands made up of 60 of his musical cohorts.

Running October 19 through December 12, the run will feature a number of themed performances such as a tribute to Miles Davis “For Miles,” electric and acoustic nights featuring “The Music Of Return To Forever, evenings featuring “Experiments in Electronica” and several others. Among those joining Corea for various themed performances includes guitarists John McLaughlin and Mike Stern, drummers Brian Blade and Steve Gadd, saxophonist Ravi Coltrane and bassists Avishai Cohen and Victor Wooten.

Here’s a detailed breakdown of the residency with each of the themes and participating musicians revealed so far:
