Cat Power Shares Rihanna Cover

Cat Power (Chan Marshall) will release a new album, Wanderer, on October 5 through Domino Records. The album includes a cover of Rihanna’s “Stay,” which can be heard in a newly shared video.

Marshall produced the 11-song Wanderer, which she wrote and recorded in recent years in Los Angeles and Miami. Written by Justin Parker and Mikky Ekko and issued as a single by Rihanna in 2012, the video for “Stay” was filmed by Marshall’s frequent collaborator Greg Hunt at producer Rob Schnapf’s Los Angeles-based studio.

“I love the tradition of covering songs,” Marshall said. “I think it’s one of the highest compliments you can pay another artist. It’s one of the great traditions in American music and one of the true pleasures of music history.”
